README FILE for Jot 1.0

Welcome to the release of Jot 1.0. If you're a user of Jot 0.7a, you'll
notice a lot of changes and new features, which are documented in the
help file. If you're not familiar with Jot, the help file describes the
program and its use.

There are two releases of Jot available -
For Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups:
	use JOT100W.ZIP (Win16 version)
For Windows/NT 3.5+ and Windows95 (Beta):
	use JOT100N.ZIP (Win32 version)

Jot works under Windows95, but does not yet take advantage of the new
features of Windows95. Once Windows95 is released, a Win95 version will
be forthcoming.

This program is shareware. You may use it for 30 days free of charge,
after which you must register the program if you continue to use it.
The registration fee is £20 (Pounds sterling).
You can register by cheque, MasterCard/Visa, or Compuserve SWREG.
See the help file for details.

**SPECIAL OFFER**
If you register your copy of Jot by _30 SEP 1995_ you can get a discount
of 20%! That's £4 off the single-copy license!
Unfortunately, SWREG registrations cannot claim the discount (it's not
flexible enough to handle it).

Unregistered copies of Jot may be freely distributed, as outlined in the
help file.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

FROM a .ZIP file:
+ Unzip to a directory of your choice.
+ Execute INSTALL.EXE
+ Follow the instructions

FROM a distribution disk (in A: drive):
+ Execute A:\INSTALL.EXE

If you are upgrading from 0.7a, please note that you will need to re-set
your registration details, and preferences, as the format was altered
for this release; your old settings are available if you revert to 0.7a.
The file format is unchanged, so you can share files between the versions.
